Pre Design

At Boss Design, we value the relationships with our clients. We strive to design the home you have always dreamed of, and to do this, we have a heavy focus on client interaction. We need to get to know you, so we can work together as a team to design your dream home. Our projects start differently than other companies. We insist on in-person collaborative pre-design meetings either in our office or at our clients building site. The focus early on will be to analyze the building site for opportunities and restrictions which will shape the final design. These meetings are all about you and your visions for the home, your plans, and your style. Your pre design meetings will be held with one of our design project managers and one of our skilled designers. To make this meeting successful we recommend you have considered some questions ahead of time.
  • What are you building? Bungalow, two storey, walkout basement?
  • What is the approximate square footage?
  • Do you have a favourite architectural style?
  • What is most important to you when it comes to your home? (Entertaining, functional living, the flow of the house, warm atmosphere, family friendly‚Ķ)
  • Is this build going to be your permanent home? Or is it temporary?
Helping you answer those questions will give our designers what they need to begin designing your home! Our pre-design meetings are also a way for you to get to know us and our process. We want to answer any questions and give you a glimpse into how we work to create your dream home. We look forward to meeting with you, getting to know you, and designing for you.

Conceptual Design Service

Every client we meet has a unique set of design requirements. Determining these requirements is the first step we take every time, with every client. Many individuals have a general idea of what they are looking for in a home. Sometimes they have a sketch, floor plan or a few pictures of what they would like their home to look and feel like. For others, visiting us is the first step.

We like to gather as much information about the project as possible before starting. It may be necessary to visit the proposed building site. With the information you have provided to us and our professional judgment the layout of the home will begin to take shape. Carefully considering your needs and other factors such as, the building site, exposure to the sun, wind direction and ease of construction, we will create a series of floor plans and a front elevation for you. At this stage, the design will be reviewed by both parties. As the plan is reviewed, new insights and concepts can develop. We will re-work the design until it is a perfect fit for you and your family. If everyone is satisfied with the design we move on to the next step and create the working drawings.
